Equine Sports Massage

Please allow approximately 60 minutes for completion of this session. Session will be performed in their stable or pasture dependent upon the weather and where the horse is most comfortable. A brisk walk or lounge session should follow the massage to prevent post massage soreness.

Equine Event Massage

Event massages last approximately 10 - 15 minutes for a pre-event massage and 20 - 30 minutes for a post-event massage. I do not recommend a pre-event massage for a horse that has not had a massage previously.

A pre-event massage loosens, warms and readies the muscles for the event. This will insure the optimal performance from your horse during the event and will help prevent injuries. Pre-event massages should be performed 30 - 45 minutes before the event followed by a walk.

A post-event massage relieves muscle pain and stiffness by returning the muscles to a normal state much faster than if they had been allowed to go without a massage. After vigorous exercise dehydration takes place in the horse, and with the loss of fluids it is harder for him to cool down. Post-event massages should be performed 15 - 30 minutes after the event a light stretch or walk can be done following the massage.
